About Peaceful Place Christian Counseling
In the midst of life’s challenges and painful experiences, we all long for a peaceful place, where we can feel safe, accepted, loved, and listened to. It is my desire to create that kind of space in our sessions where you are able to feel safe and supported; where you can find relief from feeling anxious and overwhelmed; where you can be encouraged to discover yourself as God’s masterpiece, uniquely designed, loved and valued for who you are and where you are in life, without the expectation of perfection and without the comparisons with others.
As someone who has a history of trauma in my own past, I know how important that kind of place and environment is for us to be able to heal from past traumas, disappointments, broken relationships, and just our own negative view of ourselves. Sometimes we get stuck in our past hurts and traumas, and are not able to grow emotionally, spiritually, and relationally because of those barriers that arise in the form of negative view of God, ourselves, and others. We become hypervigilant and try to protect ourselves by watching out for potential dangers that might come our way. However, by trying to protect ourselves, we tend to be focused on negative things and miss out on experiencing the good things in our lives and relationships, which leads to decreased ability to experience joy and trust others. In order for us to be able to live our lives to the fullest, we need to stay in the present, accept and love ourselves and others unconditionally, and be vulnerable and open in our relationships to foster a sense of connection and belonging. In other words, it’s learning to operate out of love and not out of fear. As a counselor, I can help you to identify and work on overcoming those fears that are standing in the way of you experiencing the joy, peace, and connection that you are longing for in your life.
I offer a gentle approach to treating trauma and anxiety, helping you to first develop coping and emotion regulation skills before moving on to processing past traumatic memories. As a result of doing this work, you will be able to no longer feel distress associated with the past trauma. You will find new ways to cope and look at yourself and others with more compassion, understanding, and acceptance.
Even though my primary focus is on treating trauma and anxiety, I also help those who experience depression, and relationship or marriage difficulties. I believe that my relationship with you as my client is one of the most important things in helping you. Therefore, I will take time to listen to your story, find out about your goals for coming to counseling and work with you in designing the best ways to achieve them. If you are held back and crippled by past traumas and anxiety, I hope to provide a safe and peaceful place for you to understand the origins of your fears and learn how to can either cope with them or overcome them. If you feel discouraged, depressed, and lonely, I can guide you in how to build satisfying relationships, experience joy, and discover your life’s purpose. If you struggle in your marriage, I will assist you in learning tools that can help you reconnect and rekindle your love for each other. I am passionate about helping you navigate through the process of growth and change.
